About Our Practice

We started with a simple observation: most gift-giving felt transactional rather than meaningful.

Artisan workshop with handcrafted items

Regalo Italiano emerged from years of working directly with Italian artisans and observing a disconnect in the market. Beautiful, meaningful objects existed, but connecting them with people who would appreciate them required more than a digital catalog.

We built relationships with makers across Italy. Leather workers in Tuscany. Ceramicists in Umbria. Textile artists in Como. Each mastered techniques that took decades to learn.

Our Approach

We don't operate as a traditional retailer. Instead, we function as a bridge between people seeking meaningful gifts and artisans creating lasting work.

This means our process looks different. When you work with us, we ask questions about the recipient, the occasion, and what you hope to convey. Then we recommend specific pieces from makers whose work aligns with those needs.

Sometimes this takes time. We might suggest waiting for a particular artisan to complete a piece rather than settling for something immediately available. We've found people appreciate this honesty.

What Drives Our Selections

Every item we recommend meets three criteria. First, it must be made by hand using traditional techniques. Second, the maker must be able to explain and stand behind their process. Third, the piece must serve a purpose beyond decoration.

These standards limit our options significantly. But they ensure that when we suggest something, we can speak to its origin and why it's made that particular way.

Who We Work With

Our clients range from individuals marking personal milestones to companies recognizing employee achievements. What they share is a preference for quality over convenience and a willingness to invest in items that carry meaning.

We've coordinated gifts for wedding anniversaries, retirement celebrations, business partnerships, and quiet gestures of appreciation. Each situation requires different consideration, but the underlying principle remains consistent: choose something that demonstrates genuine thought.

Our Team

We maintain a small team intentionally. This allows us to stay personally involved in each consultation and maintain direct relationships with the artisans we represent.

Our backgrounds span art history, retail management, and import logistics. This combination helps us understand both the cultural context of the objects and the practical realities of getting them to you in appropriate condition.
